Fake Boards
It has come to the notice of the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE) that some of the private boards/ councils have affiliated schools and are issuing certificates in violation of the set norms and practices. Some of these private boards are running Study Centres on franchise basis also, which is not allowed and is unfair. It is also informed that private boards cannot affiliate an institution/ school. They cannot issue certificates of qualification, especially of class X and class XII. Class X and XII certificates can only be issued by and under the seal of a board duly established by an Act of Parliament/ State Legislature or by an Executive Order of the Central/ State government. However, private boards are free to spread education under public-private venture. Students/Public at large are advised to go through the website of COBSE carefully at the time of seeking admission and should clarify the status of the Board/ Council from COBSE before taking admission in a private board other than those listed in the website of COBSE. This is done in order to maintain minimum standard of school education A private Board/ Council shall provide all the relevant information relating to the certificate programme(s) including the curriculum structure, content, teaching and learning process, examination and evaluation system, eligibility criteria for admission of students and equivalence of their certificate vis-à-vis boards established by Central/ State government.
