Civil Services Examination

Age : The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 26 years on the first day of August of the year iin which the exam is held. U.P.S.C. conducts Civil Services Examinaiton in two successie stages followed by Interview :

  1. Civil Services Preliminary Exam : CSAT (Objective type)

            Paper I - General Studies (200 marks) containing 100 questions.

            Paper II - (200 marks); Containting 80 questions, Min. 33% qualifying marks.

  1. Civil Services Main Exam :

           Paper I : Part-1 - Essay 200 marks, Part-2 - English Comprehension 100 marks,

           Paper II : General studies I (Indian culture and Heritage, World and Indian History and Geography) - 250 marks.

           Paper III : General studies II (Administrative, Constitution, State Administration, Social Justice and International Relations) - 250 marks

           Paper IV : General studies III (Technology, Economic Development Biodiversity, Environment, Safety and Disaster Management) - 250 marks

           Paper V : General Studies IV (Policy, etc.) - 250 marks

           Paper VI : Optional Paper I - 250 marks

           Paper VII : Optional Paper II - 250 marks

           Sub - Total 1800 marks

           Personality Testing - 275 marks

           Total marks - 2075

           The Civil Service Examination is conducted for:

  2. Indian Foreign Service (I.F.S.)
  3. Indian Police Service (I.P.S.)
  4. Indian P & T Account and Finance Service
  5. Indian Audit and Account Service
  6. Indian Customs and Central Excise Service
  7. Indian Defence Accounts Service
  8. Indian Income Tax Service
  9. Indian Ordnance Factories Service
  10. Indian Postal Service
  11. Indian Civil Accounts Service
  12. Indian Railway Traffic Service
  13. Indian Railway Personnel Service
  14. Indian Railway Protection Service
  15. Indian Defence Esate Service
  16. Indian Information Service
  17. Central Trade Service
  18. Central Secretariat Service
  19. Railway Board Secretariat Service
