Segway polo is a sport similar to horse polo, but in this sport players ride on a Segway PT. A Segway PT is a two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered electric vehicle (the PT stands for Personal Transporter). This sport gained popularity after members of the Bay Area Segway Enthusiasts Group first played this sport in 2004. The rules of Segway polo are similar tobicycle polo and horse polo. There are two teams who play with five members each. They hit a ball using their mallets, and objective is to try to get the ball into the opposing team’s goal. The size of the pitch is 61 meters by 39 meters, and size of the goal is 2.4 meters by 1.5 meters. A segway polo match consists of 8-minute quarters. The players can hit the ball using their body, their segway, or their mallet, but a goal cannot be scored using their body or segway, unless it is accidental. The Wox Challenge Cup is what they call the world championship of Segway Polo. The first challenge cup was played between the Sillicon Valley Aftershocks and the New Zealand Pole Blacks.
