Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) exam also known as LIC agent exam is conducted by Insurance Institute of India every year for the recruitment of Insurance agents.
Eligibility: Candidates have to enroll himself with the Insurance Company he likes to be associated with. It is only through that Insurer that he will be able to write the exam.
- Educational Qualification: Aspirants who have passed the XII exam from a certified Board can apply for the exam.
- Age limit: Candidates aspiring should not be below 18 years of age however there is no upper age limit for taking the exam.
- Training: Candidates should complete 50 hours of training from an IRDA approved training institution to act as Life or General Insurance agent. In case of candidates who are seeking license for the first time to act as composite (i.e. Life & General) insurance agent has to complete 75 hours of training.
Interested candidates can apply for the exam in any of the two modes i.e Online mode or Offline mode. The exam is not held on a particular date or venue. It is held throughout the year and the aspirant can apply 15 days prior to the day he wants to give the exam. The result is declared within 5 days from the date of the examination and the passed candidates receive their certificate through their sponsoring insurer.
